Looking back: 1993 New York auto show

The most significant refresh was the 1994 Alfa Romeo 164, which saw a horsepower upgrade and updated styling ahead of the brand's U. S. departure in 1995. The 1993 New York auto show was more about improving existing vehicles than breaking new ground. ALFA ROMEO '5 SERIES' PLANNED

Big Alfas have a history of dramatically tanking values, which mean that the 164 and 166 are now available for remarkably little cash (check out this late 166 , for example. Whether the same fate would befall any new model isn’t certain, especially if it’s as good as this one sounds – but if it did, it’d mean a slice of large-engined, rear-drive Alfa Romeo-badged loveliness (and, indeed, a Maserati by another name)... Whether the new car will share the styling of the Gloria is far less certain, but expect at least a few cues to make it through if the new model is given the green light for production. It’s promising news for any car nut, but especially good for second-hand bargain hunters. The availability of the Ghibli’s underpinnings mean that the new model could be developed quickly and released as early as 2015.

Q:

I'm a teen and my friends says hands down Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo cause it has lots of roombut I love the Alfa Romeo 164 ever since I was a kid.(plus i don't wanna drive ppl round lol)
(asked by kissidee92 on June 15, 2009)

A: Alfa. So much more fun. (answered by C7S on June 16, 2009)

A: Get the Jeep -
Replacement parts for the Alfa Romeo are too expensive - and with a car that old you're asking for problems.

Either way - just be sure to charge your friends for gas money :-) (answered by Rick on June 16, 2009)

Q:

Where can I purchase Brembo calipers for my 1994 Alfa Romeo 164 LS?

I have contacted several places in the USA, but with no luck. I know there has to be a place overseas somewhere.

Q:

Alfa Romeo 164 L 1991?

Ok. i am looking at an Alfa Romeo 164 L 1991 its a 4 door and has leather seats and is automatic . for what im told its italian and will last me forever. it only has 131 thousand on it for miles. and it run's great. Could anyone give me anymore info. like how long they usally do last. what usally goes wrong with them. what they are cosiderd like a sports car or a family car. anything like that how is the gas mileage anything like that. and would it be a good car to get. and what do they usally go for price wise for a used one
(asked by Minnesota Brat on March 17, 2009)

A: put a new paint job on it as soon as you get it. That way it will look good sitting on the side of the road... They get tremendous milage, once the paint dries and they are parked. (answered by jpturboprop on May 26, 7304)
