The approach reflects the limits on Aston Martin, which can&rsquo. t tap development resources of a big parent like Volkswagen AG&rsquo. A: The Aston Martin DB9 Volante does not have an automatic transmisison. It is available only with a traditional six-speed stick or an automanual with steering column-mounted paddle shifters. The Maserati GranTurismo has a traditional automatic, with steering column-mounted paddle shifters, as well as a six-speed stick. And yes, Volante is Aston Martin's designation for a convertible.
