Most interesting is the recessed headlight assembly which links up with the kidney grill, drawing a horizontal line from the “eyebrow” of the head light unit across the top edge of the kidney grill. Heavy emphasis has been placed on the fundamentals of BMW exterior design: double kidney grills, double round headlights, longitudinal bonnet lines, and Hofmeister Kink not withstanding. Alternating back and forth, the E46 was a safe (and handsome) evolutionary step from the E36, while the E90 broke the mold and found a revolutionary “flame” inspired new shape, as Bangle would later tell us. A: They have screws holding them in from the back. If you have Xenons be careful not to break them - expensive.
I can't remember where all the screws are. Try searching the forums at www.e46fanatics.com. They will have you answers more definitely than I do. (answered by halcyon on December 08, 2006)

Q:
My bmw E46 320i's headlights are foggy, and dull, on the inside. Please any suggestions to get it cleaned?
(asked by Onyekachi N on August 12, 2007)
A: The seal must have a leak or the glass might have a little crack.
You can have them buffed at a detailing shop. I did it once with one of my cars: I took down the headlight, and it had a little crack from a small rock. I broke the seal, and found the little chip of glass inside. I cleaned out the water, buffed the inside of the glass with a clean cloth and soft soap, and glued the glass chip back in place. I then replaced the seal and glued it all together with clear silicone.
Worked great! Still clear and no more water inside.
Hope this helps. (answered by Big Apple on August 12, 2007)
