Q:

how much horsepower would a 1971 buick skylark 350 2 barrel have?

looking for a rough estimate.it's a automatic. i just rebulit the engine and it has like 90,000 miles on it
(asked by Jason G on February 11, 69)

A: The 1971 Buick Skylark with a 350 2 barrel had 230 bhp and the 4 barrel had 260 bhp. (answered by stush30@verizon.net on February 11, 1302)

A: about 175, take off the intake, make it a 4 bbl, and buy aftermarkey heads! Those were early emissions years. It is very easy to convert that engine to about 450 hp though, you don't even have to mess with the bottom end to do it. Just take off all the emmissions crap., buy headers, and midpipes with no catalytic converters, and once it is a 4bbl, your possibilities are endless. You can even buy dual quads for that engine. Q:

I need a pinch weld molding for a 1971 Buick Skylark 2 door vinyl top coupe, where can I get a pair of these?

This is the small chrome piece that fits at the bottom of the vinyl top and the top of the body of the car. I have search Year One and Restoration Specialties and JC Whitney, no luck. I am wondering about other cars such as Chevelle, etc., being interchangable, but can't find one for them either. Any ideas?
(asked by Denise L on February 16, 2007)

A: Try an auto salvage yard. You would be very surprised at the things you can find there. I have actully purchased a car from one.. it runs great.. looks decent and was a great buy. (answered by gin_in_mi on February 16, 2007)

Q:

Would a 1971 Buick Skylark be considered a muscle car?

I was real interested in buying a muscle car when I found my Skylark. It has a 350ci v8 and a two barrel carb. now i am wondering if it would be classified as a muscle car or just a midsize.
(asked by Sturg's War Relic on August 07, 2008)

A: Buick produced some muscle during the era, but the Skylark wasn't one of the hottest. And a 350 2-bbl does NOT qualify it as a "muscle" car, either. It's just a regular car with a normal V-8. What else ya wanna know?
