During its 20 year run, the car was considered to be Chrysler's full-size entry-level model and was available as a 2-door coupe or convertible, 4-door sedan, 4-door hardtop, and even a station wagon. Originally a 1940 show car and then a 1950 2-door body style, the Newport name was revived again in 1961 and was in production until 1981. The Chrysler Newport was one of those. No other country in the world had the audacity to display its penchant for the open road and large cars like America did beginning back in the 1950s.
