Awesome datsun 1200 ute powered by an LS1 V8 doing a huge burnout at Supernats 2009
The first car I owned was a Datsun 1200 Ute. I bought it with my own money, and as you do when you're younger you soup it up, so I put a 4AG-ZE supercharged 1600 thing in it. It went pretty well for a little old ute, that's for sure. >> First car you owned. >> Which car are you embarrassed to say you like. What's the first thing that comes to mind when I say:. I reckon it's an unbelievable value-for-money car. Honda Jazz: Girl's car. It's come a long way in the past few years - I'd definitely buy one. Russell Ingall just bought one. BMW 740i: Old man. Awww, what would it be. I'd probably say the new Camaro. Ford Falcon: Last year. I think they look pretty good but I'd never admit it to him because I always shoot him down about it. It's competing against 5 Series BMWs and Mercs and it's less than half the price. >> What's your current drive. Toyota Prius: Greenie. Chrysler 300C: Drug dealer. Nissan GT-R: Rice rocket. Holden Commodore: Winner. Mitsubishi Pajero: Parked on the side of the road.

Q:
A: You'll probably need an engineer's certificate - since there's going to be a fair bit more power, the chassis may need to be braced to limit flex, and the engine mounts will probably need to be custom made. You'll probably need bigger front brakes as well. A friend of mine did this once with a Datsun 120Y - he shoved a worked 1800 under the bonnet - and he needed the certificate (admittedly, this was in NSW, but it's probably the same in Vic.) It was real fast, but it wasn't an easy job.
Good luck, mate. (answered by Me on November 18, 2007)
