A: Maintenance and repairs on imports always tend to run higher than on equivalent domestic vehicles. When these cars were new, there was a recall for 1981 on safety belts, and technical bulletins were issued concerning vibration in the clutch and rust issues.

Over the years, some other complaints have crept in, mostly centered around the degradation of gaskets and other rubber parts and some electrical gremlins. Be mindful that turbocharged models have engines which have operated under higher internal pressures than normally aspirated models.

But reviews by owners at one site said 94 percent were happy with their Z-cars. (answered by Scribepalladin on February 09, 7994)

i have a 94' 2.4 litre 16 valve engine from 94 nissan bluebird (altima) its run by an automatic transmission, iwant to put it into a older datsun 260 or 280, is this possible.

A: Yes, although you will probably want the oil pan and pickup from a 240SX or pickup truck as those are better for rear wheel drive applications. And ditch the FWD transmission that came with the engine; you'll definitely need a RWD transmission. You'll probably have to weld custom motor mounts, too. 1981 Datsun 280 ZX Turbo Question?

Recently, my 1981 Datsun 280 ZX Turbo started blowing smoke after setting a couple of days. It's not a blown head gasket. It appears to be dumping loads of fuel to the spark plugs and the car is flooding. It has been at my local Nissan dealer for the past 45 days. They are attempting to discover the problem. Anyone out there ever had this problem from this type of car or others?

A: Is the car running bad? Could you have blown a valve seal? (using oil) If its loading up with gas then you are right to assume theres an injector issue. (answered by spike6112 on July 26, 2008)
