And for nearly all of us, Marty McFly's gasp of "It's a DeLorean" gave us a false impression that it was some impossibly amazing car, an impression some of us carried for many years. It wasn't, not even close, but the DMC-12 - the one and only model
In fact, they're every bit as stale-dated as other '80s artifacts such as rugby pants, the DeLorean DMC-12 automobile, and Kelly LeBrock. If Mr. Turned Himself Into a Symbol is so goddamned great on the guitar, why the hell did he bury it under 16
For example, adding instrumentation to your 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 so you can track your fuel consumption is not something most people would attempt, but using the SquareTag system you'd simply stick a SquareTag tag on your fuel cap and scan it
Listings for the DeLorean DMC-12 on a low-cost personal lease was defended by the company's operator, Ling Valentine as being 'clearly a joke' – with the car having ceased production over 30 years ago. Valentine even went as far as suggesting that the
You might see more DeLoreans than usual riding around York this Saturday. About 20 of the futuristic cars will be in town for the DeLorean Mid-Atlantic Club's spring social. The DMC-12 was built by DeLorean Motor Co. in Northern Ireland for two years,

Last month, the DeLorean DMC-12 with a flux capacitor was quietly placed on display at Universal Studios Hollywood Theme Park inside a giant glass box. Marty McFly was Michael J. Fox’s most memorable role as he struggled to return to 1985 after inadvertently time traveling to 1955 with the DeLorean. In real life, a team of movie and car enthusiasts needed a year to completely restore the stainless steel classic as seen in the 1985 film. The DeLorean car that needed 1. As far as inanimate objects go, the 1981 DMC grooved hood five-speed is one of those rare movie props with a sort of cult following. 21 jigowatts of electricity to time travel earned its rock star status for many solely through its role as Doc Brown’s most successful invention. This was the result of a team of about 20 people, including a Hermosa Beach resident, working on the car and bringing their own expertise to the project along with an inevitable boyhood excitement.
I'm thinking about buying one and I'm very curious about this and any other details that you can provide about the DMC-12. (asked by Kit on July 27, 2008)

On the History Channel I saw a little clip about a company that makes new ones from old parts and repairs and refurbishes old ones, but I'll have to do some research. (answered by on July 27, 2008)

Q:
What was the DeLorean DMC-12's Crash Test Rating?
I would appreciate any information anyone can find on how the DeLorean faired in crash tests and what kinds of ratings it got.
I have seen the you tube footage of the 40mph crash test but would like some more detailed crash analysis and ratings information Thanks! (asked by Kevin Sutherland on January 18, 2008)
A: I found this and maybe you have already seen it but I will keep looking and maybe find something else.
You have a "pre" production DeLorean. DeLoreans made for public release began with numbers VIN#0652 (or there about).
You must have one of the cars that was made to test the quality of the production line and to train the workers.
DeLoreans made from VIN#500-652 were tested by the U.S. government (crash tests, regulation compliance, etc...) and all of these are suppose to have been destroyed as well. (answered by UCANTCME on January 18, 2008)
