Q:

95 dodge dakota headlights, tail lights, dash, brake lights don't work. interior lights, turn signals work.?

I also noticed that the ABS and brake light came came on on the dash. any suggestions on what the problem could be. I checked fuses and the headlight switch, they seem fine. Thanks in advance.
I checked the fusible link, it is good. the red wire with the white stripe that follows is good. I read 12V at the headlight switch. I also noticed that the tachometer is not working either. any more ideas?

A: Sounds like a fuseable link problem or a fried or melted wire , check the fuseable links and look at the main fuse box under the hood , remove the box and check inside of it for frayed or burnt wires or even corrosion or rust etc.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way you might have to check the fuse box the same way inside the vehicle. (answered by helpful bob on March 15, 2009)

Dodge Dakota - Headlights Not Shutting Off?

I have a 1993 Dodge Dakota. One day the headlights would not shut off and teh high beam indication on the dash will not go out when moving the multifuction switch. I pulled the fuse from under the hood and replaced it. Since that did not work I installed a new headlamp switch. To my surprise that did not work either. There does not appear to be any shorts.

Any suggestions as to what I might try next, other than going to a repair shop?

A: My mom had this same problem. She took it to the dealership and the did a couple things and they said it was fine. but then it started again about a month later. She took it in again (to a different dealership) and she found out that it was the electrical panel in the drivers door. I guess moisture can get to them and it completely destroys the whole panel. I forget exactly what she had done, but she made them fix were the water leaks in!! Do you ever get moister in the carpet on the drivers side? Hope this helps!!
