The car maker says the recall affects certain 2008 to 2011 model-year Ram 2500 and 3500 4×4 models and Ram 3500 chassis-cab 4×2 trucks built from Feb. Ram 2500 and 2500 models from the 2003 to 2008 model years may also be affected because the faulty tie rod assembly could have been installed as a replacement part. and 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Mega Cab 4×4 models built from Feb. Chrysler says it is recalling a total of 242,780 Dodge Ram pickup trucks ranging from the 2003 to 2011 model years because their left-side tie rods can break allowing the left front when to move independently, without control of the steering wheel.

I am thinking of getting a 98-01 dodge ram diesel and I was wondering how many miles per gallon it gets. Also if you know how many gallons of fuel it holds and how many miles do you get per tank I would like to know that, but if you don't just the mpg would be nice.

A: 6 speed 4X4 of mine gets about 19 at 70mph...towing 10K about 14
21 if I stay around 55-60 and 15-16 towing
mine has a box injectors turbo exhaust manifold and all the mods gained me about 1.5mpg once I quit playing with the extra power
tank holds 35 gallons long box 34 short box
I normally fill up at about 500-550
in the winter I loose about 2mpg with the winter fuel
I'm just heading home (WA) from california in my 06 empty and at 70-80mph I'm averaging 14.5 it's still stock and not near as much fun (answered by promiscuosman on February 15, 2009)
A: We used to get about 20mpg with ours, sometimes a little more. I can't remember the tank size, but you can google it.

I need to drain my fuel tank on my DIESEL 1999 dodge ram truck and do not know how exactly to go about it. It has a plastic tank and a mechanic told me not to let the fuel pump pump it out when I remove the filter because it would burn up the pump.

A: The fuel pump on your vehicle, or another hooked up to the line on the tank is probably your only option. The filler neck is equipped with a rollover valve that won't let a hose pass to siphon.
NOTE: The pump runs continually when the engine is running, so it will not burn up pumping out the tank. You may have to get a battery charger to hook up to your battery to keep it from running down. (answered by eferrell01 on June 29, 2007)
