How much would it cost to import a car from Argentina to US?
I have a chance to buy a nice Fiat 600 in Argentina for about $1000 US. I want to know what to expect as far as the cost to ship it to Jacksonville, FL, as well as any taxes or fees I'd have to pay. The car is over 25 years old so I don't think it needs any of the mods from the DOT. If anyone can give me any insight, that would be great. Obviously I don't want to buy this car and have to spend 10k to get it home since it's not worth that much. Someone told me that I can ship a car that small for about $1500 but I don't want to take their word for it.Thanks!!

A: Jez ! a Fiat 600!!! Well, let me tell you something, U$S 1000 is too much for a Fiat 600 unless is a colector's piece. The Fiat 600 are small cars not heavy (half a tone). I hae a Ford Escort 1998 and the companies are charging me U$S 3000 to take it Buenos Aires. I would say no more than that. Good luck and get a good mechanic in case the Fiat heats up!!!
