The designers, who were given a Fiat 500 to work from, removed the doors and roof, added wicker seats, sewed on a jaunty awning top, and dubbed it ‘The Fiat Jolly. “In 1957,” said Picard, “the Italian auto maker Ghia was commissioned to build a car for the head guy at Fiat to be used as the land tender for his yacht. Owner Ben Picard recreates the iconic and charming Fiat Jolly in our own Marin backyard. “Ghia had to set up an assembly line to keep up with the demand and from 1957-1965, about three hundred were produced. “It was an immediate hit with the yachting crowd,” continued Picard. Jolly Roadsters. Probably a hundred originals are still in existence.

A: The Fiat 600 (or "Seicento") is a supermini produced by the Italian automaker Fiat from 1955 to 1969. Measuring only 3.22 m long, it was the first rear-engined Fiat and cost the equivalent of about € 6,700 or US$ 7300 (590,000 lira then). The total number produced from 1955 to 1969 at the Mirafiori plant was 2,604,000. During 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, the car became very popular in countries such as Argentina, where it was nicknamed Fitito (a diminuitve of Fiat). (answered by Letsee on April 03, 2009)
