The Giugiaro Lamborghini that never was

The drawings were marked "Lamborghini," and though the first Lamborghini was presented at the 1963 Torino motor show, the Torino design community had known for a while that a new Italian supercar was about to be born. "Happy Birthday father," he then proclaimed on Giugiaro's 70th birthday. Parked under some Greek temple-like stairs at the Giugiaro Design headquarters, the car sat on its period Borranis, painted in a yellow hue unseen this side of Ducati. No details, no background, but the story is simple: Fabrizio Giugiaro found some of his father's old sketches from the Bertone era (1960-1965). So what is it –- apart from a beautiful birthday present.

Q:

Anybody know where I can find a Fiat 850 coupe?

I once owned a 1969 Fiat 850 coupe. It only had a 900cc engine in it, but the red line was something like 8000 rpm. It was the most funnest car I ever drove. In the snow I could steer it with the rear tires. Unfortunately, I haven't found any on the internet. What am I doing wrong? Maybe being a Fiat, they've all turned to dust. I kept repairing mine until the wiring harness caught fire one day. That was the last straw. Now I want it back. Also, it should get great gas mileage; being so light and all.
In advance, thanks for any help you can give me.

A: I've been looking for an 850 coupe for 10 years with no success. It was a great car to drive. I guess that they've all dissolved. (answered by Robert E. Lee on May 02, 2007)

Q:

I once owned a '69 Fiat 850 coupe.?

It was one of the most fun cars to drive ever. Where can I find another in good condition?
These cars indeed had a liquid cooled 903cc engine in the rear, a trans-axle with swing arm rear suspension. It weighed probably 1500 pounds. It required constant attention to keep running.

A: I owned a 68 850 coupe. The engine was 49 cubic inches because the emission laws at that time exempted engines under 50 cubic inches. Saturdays were set aside to repair what broke Sunday to Friday, but it was great fun to drive. I've been hunting for several years for one, but they must have all ended up in the junk pile. Does anyone know where I can find a 67 - 70 Fiat?

I'm looking for a 67 - 70 Fiat 850 coupe.
I live in Connecticut

A: Fiat quit selling cars in the United States in the early 80's, I believe. They have gotten quite hard to find. The later ones were not very good cars (I have owned several,) but the late 60's to early 70's actually were a pretty decent little car. I have been looking for a 1969 to 1970 sedan for many years. It is a matter of hunting and hunting. You might try traderonline.com (I have not checked there for some time.) They have a nationwide search option--also, Ebay. Good luck!
