Q:

how much would it cost to fix breaks on ford explorer 2000?

I have 2000 ford explorer and the brakes are almost gone. Very hard to stop and makes grinding noise. Can someone tell me how much it would cost to fix it at the dealer?
Also the brake light (hand brake) is on. The car has 104000 miles.
(asked by JOhn on October 11, 2009)

A: Dealer? BIG BUCKS.

Any local legitimate shop can do the work for half the cost of the dealer. You will need pads for sure, Rotor either turned or replaced all after a complete inspection to solve light issue.

This is not something you want to drive around on till you get the chance. Damage has already occurred and will definitely get worse.

Most legitimate shops will do a complete inspection for free and they will quote a cost before work is done. Try several (three or more) local shops for price matching. (answered by Alex E on October 12, 2009)

A: 35 bucks to replace brake pads at home before they grinding maybe but after grinding might need new brake rotors now as well 200 at home at a shop best you call three (answered by kelly_f_1999 on October 11, 2009)
