Ford EcoBoost: The little engine that could

While manufacturers like Toyota ( , Fortune 500 ) are competing to build exotic battery-powered vehicles, Ford has become a leader in conventional engines for perhaps the first time since Henry Ford introduced the Ford V-8 in 1932. But Explorer's high numbers vindicates Ford's controversial decision to downsize its engines -- notably for its light trucks -- by reducing the number of cylinders and adding turbochargers to compensate for the lost horsepower and torque. The new engine is a turbocharged four-cylinder, part of a new family of internal-combustion power plants with direct injection that Ford calls EcoBoost. FORTUNE -- In a little-noticed development recently, Ford announced that it had received EPA certification for a new engine in its best-selling Explorer. The Explorer's achievement reinforces the role of conventional gasoline-powered engines in meeting the challenges of greater fuel economy.

Q:

Will the keyless entry fobs for a 2006 Ford Explorer, work for a 2008 Ford Expedition if properly programmed?

We had a 2006 Ford Explorer with keyless entry, we are getting a 2008 Ford Expedition. We have several key fobs and would like to know if they will work with the Expedition.
(asked by epd836 on August 28, 2008)

A: According to the Ford chart your key FOBs should work with the Expedition, they will just need to be programmed to the vehicle. (answered by bikertrash on August 29, 2008)

A: as long as the frequency is the same than it can be programed to work. (answered by superzuki89 on August 28, 2008)

Q:

I'm interested in buying a 2008 Ford Explorer, but worry what will happen if Ford is not "bailed out"-thoughts?

With all the great incentives, it seems like a great time to buy a Ford Explorer. My only concern is what happens to my warranty, etc. Ford is not "bailed out"?
(asked by Puzzled in Dixie on November 25, 2008)

A: By law Ford or anyone that buys them would still have to honor your warranty and continue to provide parts. You will be just fine. (answered by emiller1998 on November 25, 2008)
