Q:

What plug wires for 1951 Ford 8N Tractor?

The title pretty much says it all. Does anyone know where to get plug wires for these old tractors? Thanks.
(asked by Questioneer on February 10, 6391)

A: Fleet farm has them on the shelf, you should be able to get them just about anyplace, like the guy said napa has a universal set, should not be a problem getting a set... (answered by Barney G on March 10, 2009)

A: You can get a universal set of wires at your local NAPA store. The number should be 700173 it will be a six cyl. set so they are long enough. (answered by jiffyexpress2000 on February 10, 6815)

Q:

I have a 1951 Ford 8n tractor that jumps out of reverse can any one help?

dosen't feel like its going in far enough.wheels just start to move when it comes out.
(asked by Johnny C on March 09, 2007)

A: The dudes that answered this Question are way to young and inexperienced.

That 8n is a straight stick , no linkages, it's a direct conection into the trans. I'm a John Deere man, but the same shifting problems still apply.

With the age of the tractor, the reverse gear is a shared forward gear, look at your shifting pattern is 1st above reverse? That pattern will use a forward gear and use a reversing side shift gear to change directions.

With age those gears will get worn, from years of grinding, no syncro's. here. When they start popping out , time to fix, you can try to hold them in for awhile till you find parts.

Note to "ompie and bad" these are tractor's were talking about, handed down from father to son, and again. The tractor is a part of the family, my John Deere model B will be handed down to my grandchildren, and it still runs. (answered by jacksparrow on March 09, 2007)
