Ford recalls 1.1 million pickups over fuel tank strap issue

If I dumped those same chemicals on the ground I would go to jail but since the government is doing it everything is OK. Everything has to be made from stainless steel to stand up to the chemicals the government is dumping on the roads. I have 2 new ones right now waiting to go on. I was nice of them to not say what they are going to do about reimbursement for those of us that had to by new ones. Both rockers, front and rear bed corners, both passenger door bottoms and the front bed cross member. Im scared to pump over $20 into it. just recently ive noticed that while pumping gas it has started to leak out of the neck at the seam. What everyone is missing here is that this is ALL caused by the use of VERY corrosive chemicals to melt the snow and ice on the roads. the tank is only being...

Q:

Why does the 4X4 on my 2004 Ford F150 only works on LOW but not high?

It seems that my 2004 Ford F150 4X4 only works on LOW but not on HIGH.
Whenever I turn the 4X4 on LOW I hear a clicking noise engaging and it works fine.
This problem only started this winter, as last winter I was able to get both LOW and HIGH gear to work properly.
But when I try to do this on HIGH I hear nothing and it appears to not be working at all.

A: Some Fords have an actuator on the side of the transfer case. I you have buttons on the dashboard it'll have an actuator. If you have a shift lever on the floorboard you do not have the actuator.
Anyhow, these actuators go bad all the time. You can even get them at a regular parts store. Save the old one, they'll want the core. To test this: Raise ALL the wheels off the ground. Remove the actuator but don't unplug the wire harness. Have someone run the truck in 2wd &, using a crescent wrench, operate the transfer case by shifting the rod that the actuator goes onto. See if the front wheels start to turn. (Keep in mind that the front wheels may turn in 2wd due to the coeffecient factor) Anyhow, if the front wheels do turn with sufficient force, replace the actuator. BTW: Changing the fluid in the TC won't fix anything - it's just for maintenance. And watch out for those that have enough knowledge to be dangerous. (answered by gnawgnaw33 on January 05, 2009)

A: Have the transfer case checked... its not going into gear for some reason.... may just need a routine service and fluid change. (answered by Glitch on January 05, 2009)

Q:

How can I reset the keyless entry on a 2004 04 Ford F150?

I purchased a 2004 Ford F150 that had previousley been a repo. I didn't get the key fobs with the truck so I purchased them off of the internet. They worked fine except that the truck also has an aftermarket keypad on the drivers door. When I programmed the new key fobs the keypad stopped working. The owners manual says that only 4 keyless entry items can be programmed into the computer. I figured that the truck originally had 2 key fobs (that I do not have) programmed in and I programmed 2 more. Leaving the keypad as the 5th. Is there any way to reset the computer so that I can reprogram the 2 key fobs and the keypad?
(asked by srbsvideo on January 04, 2007)

A: U need to take it to the ford dealer they need to hook it up to ther computer. As of programing the fobs the old ones that u dont have will not work u allready rest the pats system in the truck for your fobs whene u programed them. The door pad is why you need to take it to the dealer. (answered by fordegli on January 04, 2007)

Q:

i have a 2004 Ford F150 and the power steering seems to have totally gone? any suggestions to check? Pump?

have a 2004 F150 (new style) and the steering has totally gone. Seems to be manual steering instead of power steering. I have checked for leaks and found none. I think even though it hasn't leaked it could be the pump? anyone else have this issue?
(asked by Jay Rupp on June 29, 2009)

A: Sounds like a bad pump, but here's a quick check, but BE CAREFUL. Take the cap off the power steering pump, and see if you can see movement inside the pump, while it is running, and someone turns the steering for you. Please keep yourself safe when doing this. The fluid when moving through is easily seen. If it's like a frog pond, pump's done. (answered by Old guy_64... on June 29, 2009)
