Call for Action team helps get Motor City Blightbusters a new truck

He’s picking out a new pick-up truck for the Mighty Motor City Blightbusters. So John called me and the Call for Action team for help. All John asked for was help in obtaining one pick-up truck so his group can keep doing the work that they do for the community. You see, for 20 years now, John and his charitable group The Motor City Blightbusters, have been transforming the entire look of northwest Detroit. First they lost their headquarters to foreclosure and then they lost most of their 8-vehicle fleet of cars and work trucks.

(asked by Bibi B on December 13, 2008)

A: Should be to the left of your feet if you were driving under the dash.
If not look under the hood for a square black box.
Pull off the lid and see whats in there.
Its probably got those old round glass fuses. (answered by Jeb on December 13, 2008)

Q:

my 04 GMC 1500 doesnt always seem to shift smoothly?

I have a 2004 GMC 1500 PU. It is an automatic and seems to make a very slight"clunk" when it shifts from its first to second gear. It is very minor . It just seems not to be "smooth" All other gears seem fine and there is no slipping. Is this common?
(asked by c s on August 24, 2007)

A: I own a transmission shop, a race car & truck. First let me say the shift is pretty normal. My truck has a shift kit in it, and when it shifts you would think the driveshaft would fall out because it shifts so hard. A transmission that doesn't have a firm shift, is one that is sought after. Most people think a firm shift is bad, but not so. Most transmissions have built in slip in them to make them shift smooth. The shift is cushioned by a spring inside the accumulator, and if you think yours is shifting too hard, then have it checked out for this spring being broke, or the line pressure being too high. A bad throttle position sensor can cause the shift to do this too. Having the fluid & filter changed can sometimes help this, but it may not either. The computer uses information from the throttle position sensor, and the speed sensor to determine the amount of line pressure to use for the shift, or how hard the solenoid makes the shift. If after changing the fluid & filter it still does it, then I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets worse over time. If you are getting off the gas pedal at about the same time it shifts, it will shift hard sometimes, and yes this is how they are. As I said, I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets worse.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!! (answered by musiclicker on August 24, 2007)
