Q:

How to remove a speedo gear from a 79 gmc 4x4?

ok i have a 79 gmc 4x4 and the speedocable comes out of the firewall, then to a cruise control box then down under the truck and into the passenger side of the transfer case on the tail. and i replace the control box and the cable so the only thing left is the speedo gear and i have no clue how to change it out if someone could tell me how to replace that plastic gear would be great. of yea the tranfer case is a 203 fulltime
(asked by roack on June 19, 2009)

A: There should be a 1/2 (head size) bolt holding a clamp in place on the T case where the cable goes in. Remove it. Pull the piece that the cable screws into out. Now you can see the plastic gear. Pull it out and replace it. (answered by Rod Knocker on June 19, 2009)

Q:

cheap or free ways to gain power gmc 4x4?

i am looking for cheap or free ways to gain power and save gas milage in my 95 gmc 4x4 it has the 5.7L 350 motor
(asked by dustinwh575 on November 14, 2007)

A: Sorry..Not likely to pick up much gain versus price paid to offset the higher economy unless you're going to keep it for some years....maybe. Most mods will only net a couple more MPG. Only recommendation is to keep the tailgate up....yes, it does increase economy by building up an air cushion in the back aand allowing air to pass over the truck easier and not create drag. Keep tire pressures at recommended levels and get a good tune-up. Avoid any excess weight in the box. Keep speeds low or around 55 mph on highway...higher speeds are wasteful of gas especially on boxy trucks. (answered by paul h on November 14, 2007)

Q:

Will a two wheel drive transmission work in a 1983 GMC K15 4x4?

I just bought a 1983 GMC k15 4x4 and the transmission has been taken out. I would like to know if a turbo 350 out of a 2 wheel drive will work or do i have to buy a different 350 turbo or a 700r4=, i don't have any idea because i have never owned a 4x4 before and one more thing the wind shied is broken where is the best place to get one, please help
(asked by tinyclemons81 on March 03, 2009)

A: Do you have the transfer case?

The difference between the 2wd and 4wd TH350 is the tail housing. The tail housing on the 4wd style has the mounting flange for the transfer case (not a divorced unit).

You could also run a 700R4, but once again, the tail housings are different from 2wd to 4wd. (answered by boogie_4wheel on March 04, 2009)
