A: Tune ups are every 100,000 miles--but oil and filters are listed in the book--oil and oil filter--every 3000 miles---air and gas filters is once a year. If you don't do these routine services--the motor can go bad at anytime. It takes a lot of responsibility to own and operate a vehicle--if you don;'t have the money or the smarts to do it--then buy a junker and beat it till it dies. My 99 Suburban has almost 200,000 miles and runs fine because I maintain it monthly (answered by fire_inur_eyes on February 04, 2008)
