Q:
A: To temporarily disable your daytime running lights, push your dome lights button 4 times fairly quickly. You should hear a chime on the fourth push, now your DRL system is diabled untill you turn off the car. You can now use headlight switch as you normally would when approaching the gates. Easy, cheap and safe. (answered by twistedmutt on November 18, 2006)
A: are they headlights or daytime running lights?Q:
A: The proper way to do it is to take it to a service station or state inspection station who has the proper equipment. However, this may suffice: Put your vehicle on a flat level surface facing a big wall or garage door. Pull the vehicle up until the bumper almost touches the wall. With the low beams on, make a mark on the wall where each of the low beam headlights is shining. This should give you 2 marks, perfectly level and dead ahead of your low beam headlights. Then back up 25 feet. If your headlights are properly aimed, the center of each beam should stay on the marks you made. The only difference is that the beam just gets wider as you back away from the wall. If the beam strays from the mark, use the adjusting screws at the top and the side of each of the low beams to adjust the beams up or down (screwing the top one in or out) and side to side (screwing the side adjusting screw in or out). If you have 4 headlights instead of just two, the inner lights are your high beams too. If they are out of adjustment, unplug them from the back, and with only your outside headlights on, switch to high beams. You will notice your outside beams move up and slightly to the left with your high beam switch on. Mark the center of each beam while you are 25 ft from the wall. Now, unplug your outer headlights, and plug your inner headlights back in. These are the ones that only work when your high beams are on. Adjust each one until the beam is centered just inside of the beam of the outer headlight. So, when your low beams are on, you have your outer 2 lights aimed perfectly level and straight ahead. When your high beams are on, you have four lights slightly higher than your low beams, with the inner two equally spaced between the outer two. (answered by MICHAEL S on February 26, 2007)
