A: this has been a while ago....but it's how I did it. I called the airline to get price and info, they were able to give me a guys name (a contractor, not an actual employee of the airline) that actually came out to my house, crated the bike, delivered to the airport (St. Louis, MO) loaded on a plane and flown to Frankfort, Germany. The whole thing cost me 700 bucks. (and that included insurance) (Be prepared for possible customs issues...the germans wanted to charge me a tax, but fortunately by being in the military i was able to get the proper forms of exemption.) From the time the guy picked it up at my house in IL, 'til I picked it up in Germany was 4 days.
-it would have been only 3 days, had I known about the right customs forms to take along.

That was back in '91 with a 91 GSXR-750, on TWA airlines. Quite a bit smaller than a 'wing and I'm sure alot has changed since 9/11, heck TWA is not even around anymore. But, I would start with a call to the airlines and try to reach someone in the freight dept. they should be able to get you pointed in the right direction.

How do I install a replacement wind shield on a 2008 Honda Goldwing Motorcycle?

A: It's one of those things where you just have to keep taking things apart.
Remove the mirrors - pull the rubber away from the fairing and remove the 3 bolts.
They'll be another screw in there that holds the front garnish (chrome cover in the front) - after removing the screws, pull the bottom away from the fairing to pop it out of the grommets.
Remove the speaker covers.
Remove any fasteners inside to remove the entire cover.
Lower the windshield.
Dis-assemble the hight adjust levers.
Take explicit notes when removing the wind shield hardware (ovals) - size & shape of screws, order of oval & colors of them if they're different, how the windshield height adjuster works.
Draw on the parts and fairing with a magic marker for reference - or use a crayon.

Remove one part at a time - draw a picture on paper for reference and take notes.
Or Take pictures along the way - cell phone, digital camera, video camera.
The height adjuster for the windshield is tricky.
If you lose track of how stuff goes back together - forget about asking here.
Even I would have to be right there to figure stuff out - it's not simple. (answered by guardrailjim on February 11, 5434)
