A: I agree with the 1st post, you can do much better. You have only lowered the MSRP by using rebates that are paid to the dealer anyway, where's your negotiation to lower the price? I agree that you should be able to get a minimum of $1000 and maybe even $2000 additional price decrease. You should also check nada.com and kbb.com to see if you are getting a fair value on your trade in. If you want to save even more money you could look for a 2007 Santa Fe with 20,000 miles on it and probably save another $5000-$7000. (answered by beavanjb on October 18, 2008)
A: Unless you are rolling in dough this is not a good deal. You are buying a car that is 1 year old already even though it has never been on the road. The 2009's are out now which makes any 2008 car 1 year old. So you need to take at least $1,500.00 off of the car for one year depreciation. So they should bee giving you the full pay off value for your old car. Keep negotiating with them until you get your way. Even if they tell you that they can't do that, they can. Once when my husband and I were buying a car I held out for another $1,500.00 and they kept saying they couldn't do it and I said, fine, I can go to a lot of other dealers to buy a car. I don't have to buy it here. They tried and tried to wear me down and finally they said that it was the best they could do. So, I said OK and I got up and walked out and went outside and got into our car and started it up and I could see that they were still talking to my husband. I waited about 5 minutes and finally my husband came out and said, come on back they are going to give you your way. You just have to hold your ground. Even if you leave, tell them that when they come to their senses and decide to give you what you want they know where to call you. Also if you have another car that you might consider you might see what they are willing to do for you as well. Car dealerships are hurting right now. They have a lot of cars to unload.
