Hyundai Takes the Lead in Fuel Efficiency
Hyundai is the most fuel-efficient automaker in America. That’s according to the Environmental Protection Agency’s latest annual fuel economy report (pdf). In lab tests to determine combined city-highway fuel economy of cars and trucks, Hyundai’s fleet achieved 30.1 miles per gallon. The Korean company is the only automaker to top 30 mpg.
“Our thoughtful application cost-effective, fuel-efficient technologies has helped us achieve our goal of leading the industry in fuel economy ahead of schedule,” said John Krafcik, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. Last year, Hyundai's leadership promised to achieve the government-mandated 2016 CAFE standard of 35.5 miles per gallon by 2015.
The latest EPA numbers indicate that the Hyundai is moving faster than anticipated. Last year, Krafcik told HybridCars.com, “We’re taking fuel efficiency higher and faster than any other carmaker. We’re going to pass Toyota and Honda by 2015.” The company is now promising to extend its lead by launching direct injection and turbocharging technologies, as well as introducing its first hybrid in the US—the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid . “In this age, fuel efficiency is the new zero-to-60 time. It’s more socially relevant,” Krafcik said.

Q:
I have 2009 hyundai accent, is that ok to fill it up from 87 octane to a higher octane?
I have a 2009 hyundai accent, I always fill it up 87 octane, Is that ok to put a higher octane on my tank? It will not damage my engine? what do you advice is the better octane for my car? thanks(asked by ed c on November 15, 2009)
A: "ANONY"... It is called AMERICAN Continent (should you be able to find it on the map!!!)
"ed c"... the Hyundai engines are made for the american continent to run with 87 regular octane gas as per Manufacturer recommendations. Should you decide to increase to 89 or higher octane, it would not damage the engine. The only advantage is that sometimes, with 87 octanes only you will experience lifter pinging noise when engine loaded (going up hill or flooring the pedal or some other scenario where engine has to work hard). Going one notch up in octanes once every forth fill-up it will reduce the noise. Otherwise, is just money thrown out the window. (answered by Hyundai Guru on November 16, 2009)
Q:
touch up paint for hyundai accent 2009 car?
I'm looking for a dark sapphire blue touch up paint for a 2009 hyundai accent car. It was keyed in 4 different spots on the left side on the bottom. I want to know where to get paint in that exact color to cover it and repaint it. I have tried shuck's. The dealer where we got the car is expensive we want a cheaper option. If you need more details please let me know. This is in Seattle, Washington.(asked by Buzz J on June 27, 2009)

Q:
Can I change the gear shift knob on my 2009 Hyundai Accent?
Most shift knobs screw off but I need a shift knob that is compatible with the lift-shifter-to-go-into-reverse set up the Accent has. I have found plenty of places that have cool shift knobs but I don't know if they will fit. Thank you for the help.(asked by Nub Nunberton on September 10, 9504)
A: Yes, you can install a different shifter knob but there is a trick.
You must install a thick spacer before you put the new knob, otherwise you will not be able to lift shifter for reverse. it will hit against it.
Good luck and have fun with your Accent. (answered by Hyundai Guru on September 10, 7802)
