Q:
What year of transmissions are compatible with a 2003 Hyundai Accent?
I am looking at the prospect of replacing the transmission on my 2003 Hyundai Accent (4 door sedan-powertrain warranty is voided). I am wanting to just find a used transmission. What years of this vehicle will be compatible to install in my vehicle?

A: From info I gathered from this site http://car-part.com/index.htm it seems to depend on your engine.
If it's the 1.5L (SOHC) engine you can use year models 2000 to 2005. The 1.6L (DOHC) can take 2001 to 2006.
The site is a good place to start looking for used parts as well. (answered by cjgt2 on April 16, 2009)

Q:
Do you know why my 2003 Hyundai Accent is jerking?
I have a 2003 Hyundai Accent and it has 40,000 miles on it. This summer I noticed it started "jerking". It usually happens when I would get into my car after work, start it up and put it into reverse or drive. It would jerk forward quickly and then do it again a few more times while I'm driving until it goes away. It would then become sluggish in accelerating after stopping at a light. Now it even jerks on the highway, but instead of going away, right away it will shift into this weird mode that sounds like a deep noise at about 60+ mph. It sounds fine at 55.
I noticed it happens after my car has been sitting in heat for a long period of time and doesn't go away until I turn my car off and then on again. My check engine light does not go on.
I also brought it into the dealership to check it out, but since it doesn't "act up" for them (since it's spontaneous) they can't fix it. I have been driving with this problem for about 5-6 months.
