Put used car safety ahead of price, says RAC

RAC head of member advocacy Matt Brown said the ratings highlighted how dangerous some older cars could be. "Used cars can be safe and you don't have to pay a lot of money to get a safe one, you just need to know what you're looking for," Mr Brown... Motorists could be putting themselves at risk when they buy a used car, according to the RAC's latest used car safety ratings. Two makes - the Mitsubishi Lancer/Mirage CE 1996-2003 and the Hyundai Accent 2000-2006 - recorded only one star. He said consumers should look for basic safety features - including airbags, ESC (electronic stability control) and ABS (anti-skid braking system) - when buying a car.

A: my old roommate had an issue with her hyundai getting stuck in park. it was a safety issue. allot of cars lock into park for a while after being hit so you cannot move the car for safety reasons. allot of them as they are older get stuck after breaking hard. I would have a mechanic look into that for you (answered by Frankie on November 16, 2008)

Q:

How come my tail light doesn't work in my 96 Hyundai Accent?

I'm at a loss. My right tail light doesn't come on when I turn my car lights on. I have replaced the bulb, switched it with the left tail light (which works), even replaced the entire tail light assembly. It still won't work. All of the other lights work, including the brake light. Has anyone else ever had this problem? What could be causing the problem?
(asked by Jimmithon M on March 21, 2007)

A: A bad ground, check the ground wire and trace it back..... also trace the power wire too. (answered by Bumbles on March 21, 2007)
