The G35 changed all of that, and how! And then the M became a bigger G, and a serious competitor not only to Lexus or Acura but to BMW, Mercedes, and more »
When I first laid eyes on the X1 two or three weeks back I thought it was the same size as the X3, but once I finally got closer and inside, it was obvious that this new X1 is not really a “crossover” like the X3, but more like the station wagons... This vehicle is similar to the Infiniti EX35, although it is slightly larger than the X1 in all dimensions, just as the Infiniti G35 sedan is larger than a 3 Series. currently the X1 is only offered as the xDrive28i, which in BMW-speak means an all-wheel drive platform powered by a 2. ), the all-new-for-2012 X1. This is BMW’s latest SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle), a step smaller than their X3 and based on the 3 Series platform. And now for something completely different — or is it. BMW has once again brought us a new class of vehicle (or have they. But BMW has gone a different direction with the power train.

Q:
A: "You hit some serious pot holes...."
A G35 is not intended to hit pot holes; you need to take more care in your driving, or get a vehicle suited to your driving style with tall skinny truck tires that will handle "...serious pot holes..."
I do not know how small a wheel will fit over your G35's brake calipers; but the smallest wheel offered stock appears to be 17" with 225/50R17 tires on the front, and 235/70R17 tires on the back. They are very low profile. Optional wheels have even lower profile tires.
You may want to trade your G35 for something like a Nissan Rogue S AWD which comes with 215/70R16 tires as standard. These have side walls which are 150mm tall (215 x .70) versus 112mm tall (225 x .50) which will absorb a great deal more "pot hole" without damage to the rims.
Overall these showy tall wheels with very short side wall tires are for appearance only - they are expensive, and do not protect the wheels.
Tire size: for example P225/50R17 means:
P - passenger car
225 - 225 mm section width (max tire width ± 5mm at nominal pressure and load)
50 - 50 series, means that the side wall height is 50% of the section width
R - radial
17 - rim diameter in inches.

Q:
A: Yes a number of people have put 20" wheels on their G coupes. The car comes with 19" wheels from the factory, so it's not too difficult to get 20s on. You will need some extremely low profile tires though, considering the stock 19s are already 40 profile. Some people have rolled their fenders to make more room for the larger wheels as well.
