Q:

Help me pick a medium duty delivery truck?

I manage and am part owner of a mattress and furniture store. We've had many delivery problems. We've been through 6 companies in 4 years of business. We want to do it ourselves.
We are thinking about the following non-CDL trucks:
Mitsubishi FE 145 14,500# 152" wb 16' box
UD 1400 14,250# 149" wb 16' box
GMC W4500 14,550# 150" wb 16' box a/k/a Isuzu NQR

Ford LCF L45 16,000# 149" WB 16' box (costs more, uses more fuel)
Ford F-450 14,500# 176" wb 16' box (costs more, uses more fuel)
GMC Topkick 4500 176" wb 16' box (costs more, uses more fuel)

Thanks for your input.

The last two don't turns as tightly due to longer wb of conventional trucks vs. flat front trucks.
(asked by furniture_and_mattress_outlet on October 05, 2007)

A: Definitely not the last 3 as they use more fuel and fuel is extremely high and doesn't seem to be going down anytime soon! They would lessen profits as well. We have 3 GMC trucks medium duty 24' box trucks. They have all been well worth it for us. I would say the GMC W4500. I believe the maintenance would be less on this as well compared to the others you have listed. Hope it helps! (answered by stamper on October 06, 2007)
