Q:
where is the camshaft position sensor located on a 2001 isuzu rodeo?
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo, manual transmission, 4 cyl, 2.2, the check engine light comes on and off, i took it to a discount auto part, they did a test with a scanner, and it came out that the camshaft position sensor needed to be changed, I do have the piece, but i dont know where it goes, need help...
(asked by Juan M on September 10, 2007)
A: the sensor is under the timing belt cover at the top of the engine. If you are looking at the engine you'll see a black strip covering your spark plugs, your electrical connection on the camshaft position sensor is under there go ahead and disconnect the sensor. Next is the removal of the timing belt cover. You will need to take the bolts holding the cover in place they will hold it all the way down to the bottom of the engine. The bolt in the center top section is actually the bolt holding the sensor in place inside the engine so you will need to look and see how to maneuver the sensor out after the bolt is removed. Replace with new sensor and replace bolts. Plug electrical connector into the top of the sensor and replace spark plug cover. You are now done.
This sensor is important to your rodeo because if this sensor is not working then the vehicle will not start or run because it relies on the sensor to operate. (answered by rambo1214 on September 11, 2007)
A: I'm not familiar with that model. Some cam sensors are at the front of the engine. Some are under the valve cover.
My suggestion would be, to call the store that sold you the sensor and ask them or call a dealership. Usually they are glad to help.

Q:
2001 isuzu rodeo engine coolant drain?
I'm replacing thermostat in my 2001 isuzu rodeo v6 3.2 and need to drain coolant from engine. I already drained from radiator, but I can't find the drain plug on the engine block. Does anyone know where it is? Thank you for your help

Cant find the thermo... but where i think it is is impossible to get too!! my air filter hose is right above it and there are too many tubes!!
(asked by Nadine P on July 24, 2007)
A: There isn't one on the engine block. And, you don't need to drain the whole cooling jacket anyway. Just catch what spills in a drain pan placed under the thermostat area of the engine. You can remove the lower radiator hose to drain the engine block if you really need too though. (answered by randy on July 24, 2007)
