If you do not revese, the hubs remain engaged. When the transfer case is in 2wd it does not send power to the front wheels, however if the hubs are not disengaged they will spin the front half shafts, dfferential and driveshaft leading to accelerated wear. A: Tell your boyfriend he is dreaming. That 3.8 would not even turn the wheels needed for mud bogging. This is a light weight truck intended for occasional off road use. He needs a 3/4 ton truck with a very big engine to turn 35+ inch tires in deep mud. Now if he is just posing and wants to look like the big boys, then by all means get him a lift kit and a set of big tires and watch the fuel mileage drop like a rock, the top speed be lowered by 10-15 mph, and the truck become a top heavy road hazard.
