You Ask We Answer

Q:

Is it possible to have an LPG tank installed into a Jaguar XJ6 or XJ12 series 3?

Also how much would it cost?
The XJ6 has a V8 motor while the XJ12 has a V12. Will this still be possible?

Also. The Australian Goverment give you money back for installing it in your car. How much does it cost and how much do they give back?
oops. the XJ6 has a V6 not V8

A: Installing the tank isn't the problem, its converting the engine to run on propane that's the problem. (answered by SmartA$$ on February 11, 7045)

Q:

Jaguar Questions (desperately need answers)?

Okay I need a few answers to my questions about a Jaguar XJ6 (series 3)

What Motor does the XJ6 use?

And how much might I pay to have someone replace the original motor for a basic holden motor (Including parts) in Australia?
(asked by Candyman on October 26, 2008)

A: First of all, I have to say that every time a classic Jaguar is lumped, an angel cries. Think a bit about keeping one of the greatest cars in history in one piece.

The S3 XJ used a 4.2 liter XK engine (although in your market, they may also have used the small displacement version of the same motor). That's an inline six cylinder in case you didn't know. The heads were hemispherical, crossflow design. This was the last iteration of the engine, it would have been fuel injected. Output about 217hp.

If the Holden uses a variation of the Chevy V8, there are inexpensive kits available from the US to do the swap:

Otherwise, you may be able to find conversion parts from:

http://www.dellowauto.com.au/main.html Both of which are down-under companies
