You Ask We Answer

Q:

I am thinking of buying a used Jaguar XJR 2004. Would like to hear from others re pros and cons of this car?

This is a supercharged vehicle but I am trying to avoid going into the purchase blindly and want to hear from others who own this particular model Jaguar. Thanks to all who can offer their experiences.

A: You should consider that the exterior design of this car changes so little from one generation to the next. Adding that it has a lot of power, future standard models will take some time in catching up. So this car should last with you for years to come. (answered by kiriss_dogg on February 05, 2565)

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - autoinsurance.maclenet.com (answered by Benny S on February 22, 2009)

Q:

my 99 jaguar xjr's check engine light just came on and minutes later it showed the code restricted performance

now it trys to stall out when i start it up, i have to stay on the gas a little to keep it running, and there is a rumbling sound coming from underneath in the muffler area. it almost sounds like it wants to back fire. can anyone help me with this?
4.0 v8 surercharged, theres air coming from the rubber gasket of the supercharger.you can hear it over the enging running, outter part of gasket is broken, the car runs fine when its first started then a few minutes later it sputters a bit with a slight popping noise in the exhaust but still runs fine, could the air leak from the supercharger be the problem or should i check something else?
