91 jeep cherokee tail light out?

I just bought a 91 jeep cherokee 4wd 6 cyl and the right tail light is out. The tail light and brake light use the same bulb/socket, but only the tail light is out. both the socket and bulb are only one day old and havent had any damage. What do ya think is wrong and how can I go about fixing this ?

Please give me a detailed description of taking out the driver side tail light and installing a new tail light for a jeep cherokee 1995.

A: ok you should find screws on the inside of the hatch holding the lense assy to the body. when you remove the screws you should find the lense feels a little bit loose. the outer side of the lense should be kind of hooked in place as it should have tabs on the plastic. then you gently roll the inner(closest to the hatch) toward the outside and the assy should now be in your hands. the bulb holders usually twist slightly and then pull out. the bulb should just pull straight out. some vehicles have access panels inside the rear corner to just access the plug itself. well, i was on the freeway and someone hit my tail light with a bat....yea......
anyway, is it alot of money to replace the light? the entire shield is busted...the color part. so, is it expensive? can i just go to a dealer and get it down? or is a long process? could i install it myself?
i need to replace the entire light....the bulb, the outside ... everything. And its a 2004.

A: Install it your self, it is very easy. The whole replacement is about $20.00.
All you do is remove your four screws,, pull out your damaged light, unplug it, plug in your new light, slip it back into the grove, and screw it in, that easy. (answered by Guess Who on May 05, 2007)
