The Cherokee is the Rodney Dangerfield of the Jeep world: "I get no respect." To many tent-drivers, it is just a station wagon.

Q:
A: You have an XJ Cherokee. XJ is just the more specific code for the body/chassis style. It's important because there were also XJ Grand Wagoneers for a while. Other than the wood paneling and upgraded trim, they were identical to an XJ Cherokee.
Also, there were Cherokees prior to the XJ referred to as FSJ (full size jeep) Cherokees that are not compatible in any way with your XJ. (answered by E-rock on December 03, 2008)
Q:
A: Dont listen to your buddies, their are a few minor differences with the 2D from the 4D, but none of them involve the wheelbase or track of the vehicle as claimed above me. Same powertrain, frame, and options were available from the factory.
Other than the obvious, that the 2D has two less doors, the doors are also a little longer than the 4D's. This isn't important until you need to replace a door, because only 1/5 of all XJs built were 2D (most of which were pre-97). There has also been stories of the 2D having more uni-body flexing than the 4 door, but is only relevant if you plan on wheeling the XJ (even then, many companies make stiffeners).
With that said, there is no reason to stay away from the 2D. As long as you can handle folding the seat up to get in the back, your good to go. The 2 door is in my opinion a lot better looking, and if you can find a 97+ 2D you will own a some what rare jeep. (answered by on June 24, 2009)
Q:
A: you can do 2 things that i can think of. 1 is to insert a small metal rod ( or nail ) of the wiper just right it hooks to the motor. there is a small hole in the wiper arm, and you lift the wiper till it won't go any further, you will see a small hole. just insert the nail thee, and that will hold it off the windshield.
2. you can get a small piece of foam, and cut it to make a small foam block. say 1 or 2 inches square. you them under the wipers for those snowy days.
i like the foam blocks, because they are cheap ( you can get a sheet from home depot) and cut to size. and lots of time, even if you forget them on the windshield, the minute you turn the wipers on, they will come off.
hope that help. (answered by asilancair on April 18, 2009)
