I was just wondering if you can switch from a 4 wheel drive to a 2 wheel drive in a 2008 grand cherokee laredo base model. I do not need 4 wheel drive in the city streets and it will give me a little bit more gas mileage if I could switch it to two wheel drive. (asked by Alex K on June 01, 2008)
A: It is probably AWD like mine and it is not possible to switch from AWD. The gas mileage has been about 15mpg for me and I am sure the AWD is the reason. It is is a good idea but not possible if it is AWD. (answered by MP on June 01, 2008)

I am looking to buy an suv for my son in college. We are between the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 and the Toyota 4runner Laredo 4x4. I have done alot of research on the cars and still am not 100% sold on one. Any opionions and research would be greatly appreciated. A: The 4Runner is built on the current Land Cruiser platform, Lexus LX 470 is basically a loaded 4Runner, it has a torsen gleason center differential, no clutches or viscous coupling a solid mechanical unit. It has the X-reas suspension which cross links the shocks to aid cornering ability, hill hold brakes, hill descent, features, if you go to any desert or remote area of the world you will find no other vehicle than the Land Cruiser.
