Q:

Installing trailer wiring harness on Jeep Grand Cherokee 98?

How do you Install trailer wiring harness on Jeep Grand Cherokee 98?
I need to know how to do it myself - U-haul charges 350 and to buy the hitch and the harness is 175 - the difference will cover thtrailer rental and the gas and I'll probably have some left.
How does the harness attach to the vehicle's electric system? I need step-by-step walktrough or a detailed description. Thank you all for the effort!

A: the easiest method is to buy a trailer plug in kit you just plug it into your existing wiring harness,if not most kits come with complete easy to follow instructions telling what wire goes to what light and all you need to do is find the wires on your jeep using a simple test light. (answered by Lynn B on October 25, 2008)

A: Go to U-Haul, they do it all the time and have the wiring specks. It's not that expensive. (answered by Todd H on October 25, 2008)

Q:

Inside lights of 98 jeep grand cherokee blink on and off when drvng and stay on afterwards but only when dark?

The inside lights of my 98 jeep grand cherokee blink on and off when I'm driving, but only in the morning, or when its dark outside, and then stay on after I turn off my car. Also, my drivers side door is retarded, I have to push in when opening it, otherwise it won't, I usually hit in with my knee so it opens. Are the two related? How can I fix?
How do I turn off the dome lights through the kick panel?
(asked by Jamie S on February 11, 4013)

A: check your door switches and look for a frayed wire.

You can pull the fuse out to cut them off if you don't want to look for it. (answered by timothy p on August 19, 2009)

A: Very possibly. The driver door problem would probably take a trip to a body shop for diagnoses, and the dome light problem will probably be fixed when the door is.

Until then, you can unhook the dome light switch for the driver's door. It's behind the driver's kick panel, which is to the side of your left foot when you're driving. (answered by rick29148 on February 11, 4824)

Is there any aftermarket stereo that will work with my sterring wheel controls in my 98 Jeep Grand cherokee?
I would like to replace my factory stereo with something else but I don't want to lose my steering wheel controls for the volume and tuning. Kinda handy!
(asked by Christopher Jellybean on September 10, 2007)

A: Yes, most aftermarket stereos will work, but you have to buy an adapter, crutchfield carries them, there about $70. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Y7UTaqQU7Jh /cgi-bin/Prodgroup.asp?g=118900&avf= Y (answered by Ty19 on September 12, 2007)
