Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep receives SRT treatment
s obvious just looking at the four new racy models that are to be introduced this fall: the Chrysler 300 SRT8, the Dodge Charger SRT8, the Challenger and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. The uniquely designed larger wheels are especially striking on the Charger and Grand Cherokee. The SRT division, introduced in 1992 with the birth of the Viper, targets consumers looking for high performance with highly modified vehicles, much like the BMW M product line or the Mercedes AMG brand. A racing enthusiast, Gilles vows that under his watch the SRT brand will be selective of the vehicles it puts to market to ensure that the brand is well represented. The high performance division is led by none other than Ralph Gilles, a promising Chrysler protégé who is also the Vice-President of Design. The sleek designs scream of power and performance.

Q:
1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee rims?
I was thinking about buying some mid price range rims for my 98 jeep grand cherokee. i wanted to know if there is any recommended place to search or a certain brand. and i know now the newer jeeps have a different size but could those rims somehow work? thanks for the help.(asked by liljohncubs on November 24, 2009)
A: The newer Grand Cherokees have a larger bolt pattern. You have to look for wheels with a 5x4.5" bolt pattern, and the only Jeep wheels that work are from the '93-'98 Grand Cherokee, '87-'06 Wrangler, all XJ Cherokees and the Comanche, and I believe all Libertys. If you're looking for some off-road type wheels, I would suggest American Racing or Mickey Thompson. (answered by Jimney_Jelickers on November 24, 2009)
Q:
Can I put low profile tires on my original rims on my jeep grand Cherokee year 1999?
This is for the auto enthusiast. I have a jeep grand Cherokee. Its a two wheel dive. I don't take it off road. I want to make it sportier. Maybe some low profile tires. What damage will it cause and what are the loss of gas mileage, so on so fourth? I like the original rims. I don't like the shiny top of the line big radius rims. Can I keep the original rims?(asked by vampdevil@sbcglobal.net on November 25, 2009)
A: Yes you can go low profile and it will not throw your ABS sensors and speedometer. (answered by Seahorse on February 11, 835)
A: You can go too low profile, otherwise it will throw off the ABS sensors and the speedometer. If you want sportier, the best thing to do is go with bigger wheels and performance tires, but remember, these are not sports cars and will never handle all that great. IF you are running 16" wheels, go to 17 or 18. You don't have to run dubs to get better performance. (answered by Uncle Bo on November 25, 2009)
