Another fellow said he came out of his local Wal-Mart and found a cop car parked behind his old CJ. The cop was standing there being yelled at by a woman, who had told the cop that the Jeep driver had put a huge door ding in her car with his door,... I base this statement mostly on a newsletter I received recently from the Jeep Forum, which is a website designed to enable Jeep people to waste time online when they&rsquo. Q:
A: if money is no problem check a specialty paint shop for a paint job on the cheap earl schieb I used to do paint and body work with my dad so I have a little experience (answered by desertmudman on October 29, 2008)
Q:
A: First, remove the nuts from the door hinges. They are painted, and removing them will chip the paint on them. You'll need to get over that.
Second, you may need to shoot a little WD-40 up into the bolt to motivate it to move upwards.
Finally, open the door about 45 degrees and stand on the inside panel. Grab the bottom of the door with one hand and another on the upper door frame (with window down). Lift with some torque, but don't yank it. You don't want it to pop out and back into your paint.
NOTE: Maybe not so much with your '03, but on some older TJ's, I've had some trouble getting the door out of the hinge because they had never been removed and some corrosion got in there. In that case, I went ahead and removed the front bracket of the lower door hinge from the jeep. That way I only had to fight the upper hinge to get it out.
