You Ask We Answer

Q:

will factory tj jeep wrangler shocks work with a 1 inch body lift?

would it be better to buy new shocks for a 1 to 3 inch lift or 0 inch lift?
(asked by Dermck on November 04, 2009)

A: Yes but as may times as your jeep travel up over set ride height the shock will hyper extend and the shock will be damaged and since it is running extended dont expect the shock to dampen correctly (answered by rick b on November 04, 2009)

A: yes,but you cant go over that or they,ll bottom out when you hit a hard bump in the road, and that's a horrible sound when they bottom out, good luck. (answered by dodge man on November 04, 2009)

Q:

Jeep zj shocks for tj??

I have a jeep tj and i used the front shocks off of a jeep zj(grand cherokee) and put my front shocks from my tj on the back. I also have 2.5" coil spring spacers and a 1" body lift. When i had my 2.5" coil spring spacers and my 1" body lift i ran stock shocks. Now with the addition of new springs, i need new shocks because the old(stock) shocks are fully extended and basically no longer functional. My question is can i use the stock shocks off of the jeep zj for my lifted tj, and the shocks not be fully extended? Thanks.
(asked by Zack D on June 23, 2009)

A: If the shocks are readily available for you to try them out, the I would say try. My question is, why don't you buy shocks that are specific to your lift? (answered by on June 23, 2009)

Q:

Replacing the shocks on a jeep tj '97?

I Just had my jeep at the garage to replace my winter tires, while he was doing this he noticed that the shocks on the car are dead pretty much, they have been leaking for quite some time and all 4 need to be replaced.

He told me he would charge 500$ CAD for parts and labour, i did a bit of searching on ebay and i have found 4 shocks for a quarter of that price, for around 150$ CAD 50$ shipping. Would these shocks work well with my jeep? is it a reliable brand? One is called Monroe, and the other is called SkyJacker. Also my jeep is completey stock, no modifications.

heres the link, i have also found a second one cheaper...
Monroe

or skyjacker

im not exactly sure what kind of shocks he wanted to put in, but i dont wana spend 500$ lol, so the cheaper the better
(asked by The Smart Guy on May 20, 2009)

A: Sky Jackers are good shocks. And for $500 I would look into Beilstiens
Also I like pro-comp (answered by rick b on May 20, 2009)
