Q:
A: They used the v8 s111 over here in New Zealand until only recent when they were replaced with nissan's. The biggest difference being the 110 (defender) has coil springs compared with the s111 109 (v8 series 3)having leaf springs. the width of the diff and axles is larger this is made clear by the added flares fitted to the gaurds on the 110's. The gearbox on the v8 is much stronger than the normal s111 and i think it came from the Range Rover.
As for your question the V8 series 3 is worth more than your standard series 3 but not at a point where it is worth a great deal of money. Hold onto it for another 20 years and things will change though. (answered by Nathan M on May 23, 2007)
