Q:

Finding A Lincoln Futura?

i am trying to find an old 1954 a ford concept car called the Lincoln Futura with no luck. if you know of anything, post it below please. Thanks.
(asked by Pharoh Atem on July 07, 2009)

A: You probably will have better chances finding a 1/24 scale model of one. Revell made an original casting of one as a kit in 1956 or so, and then re-released it in the 1990's. Look out for one on E-Bay, as well as big hobby shops that have websites like Phoenix models and such.

Brooklyn Models and Great American Dream Machines made some beautiful 1/48 scale models of it. These usually retail in the collector market for anywhere between $150 and $300.

The most famous Lincoln Futura, was of course, George Barris' adaptation of the Batmobile.

As far as books on the car are concerned, see if motorbooks.com has anything. It may be mixed in with books on Motorama or prototype cars of the era. Once again, try EBay to see if you can find any kind of literature on the car.

If you are looking for the real Mc Coy, that's a whole different challenge. I have no idea how many were built, and how many survived, but if I were a betting man I would say 2 or 3 were built. One of course was modified into fiberglass molds by Barris for the many Batmobiles he built for the TV series. (answered by Delamothe on July 09, 2009)
