Q:

How do I fix the air glide suspension on a 1991 Lincoln Mark VII??

My car is a 1991 Lincoln Mark VII LSC. The front and rear suspension is completely out. I know there are several things that could be wrong with it. I kind of just want to change out the whole suspension on both sides.

How would I do that? Or where could I look to figure it out?
(asked by razzle on February 11, 6776)

A: Hummm, most comon Lincoln question lol. Change the suspension over to a standard shock system, it will be a lot cheaper than repairing or replacing the troublesome air suspension. (answered by Roaddogg on February 11, 8191)

A: The rear suspension is not difficult to replace with new or even used air bags and solenoids. It is a good idea to replace the air lines, but before doing any of that make sure the compressor/pump is working.

If you want to rid the car of the air ride suspension there are kits on the market or you can use the struts for a Mercury Cougar ont he front and a set of special coil springs on the rear. The springs are usually available are specialty parts stores. There is a savings over buying the kits whole. Best of luck! (answered by tiffiek on February 11, 4111)

(asked by macauman on January 03, 2009)

A: Check the fuses to the air ride suspension. check the air bags to see if you can see damage. If this happened overnight you probably have an air leak. turn the key to the on position and leave it there for a while to see if it pumps back up. (answered by Mike T on January 03, 2009)

A: Your vehicle comes with an auto suspension leveler which will compensate for heavier loads whether in rear or side or even during cornering, helps it handle nicely.

I suspect an air leak in this system causing the drop. (answered by Ripster90 on February 11, 9810)
