In contrast to some of our more hedonistic long-term vehicles of late—among them a Mini John Cooper Works convertible , a Lexus IS F , and a BMW X6 xDrive50i —the latest addition to our fleet is rather plebeian: a 2010 Mazda 3 s Grand Touring hatchback. But given the 3’s election to our 2010 10Best list, it’s no wonder that we’re so fond of the little Mazda as it begins its 40,000-mile journey.

Loaded and Capable

Redesigned for 2010, the new 3 immediately won us over with greater levels of refinement while carrying over the first gen’s tossable, fun-to-drive nature. Yes, it’s a bit heavier than before and some of us have yet to warm up to its new styling, but we all agree it’s among the best choices in its class.

Starting at $22,750 and dressed in Graphite Mica paint—a hue chosen to lessen the visual slap of the awkward “smiley face” grille—our five-door 3 sits just below the range-topping Mazdaspeed 3 in the lineup and is propelled by a 167-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder backed by a six-speed manual gearbox. Its standard features are legion. A black leather interior, 17-inch wheels, xenon headlights, heated seats, Bluetooth connectivity, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, and a plethora of airbags and safety equipment are all present. Additional amenities we deemed essential include the $1195 Technology package (nav, keyless entry and start, Sirius satellite radio, and a perimeter alarm) and the $1395 Moonroof/Bose package (power sunroof, 242-watt Bose audio system, and a six-CD changer); the latter package is required to get the former, though, so Mazda’s touting the navigation system as “affordable” is a bit of a stretch. An auto-dimming interior mirror with a compass ($200) and a protective step plate for the rear bumper ($50) also were fitted. As-tested price: $25,590.

Who has a Mazda 3 and the back wheels knock?

I have a 04 Mazda 3 the back wheels knock when stopping, pulling off and turning a corner. Can anyone help me narrow down what it could possibly be?

A: I think there are updated rear brake pads (or brake pad shims) for this concern on the 3. Call a Mazda dealer and ask. (answered by Lana T on March 26, 2009)

i want to sell 4 used factory alloy wheels of my mazda 3 2009. There are some curb scratch on 1 of front wheels So how much i can sell them?

A: there are companies who sell used wheel covers , hubcaps , and steel and alloy wheels. These companies are found in most big towns.

look in the yellow pages of your phone directory under wheels and find a place who would buy your wheels from you. They will clean them
up and sell them to someone else.

there are also companies that sell rebuilt wheels and body shops have to , on the orders of insurance companies , check availability of rebuilt wheels at these companies for the vehicles they are working on.

these companies will buy your wheels also........rebuild them (refinish them) and then sell them to a body shop.

used wheels sell for around 75-100 and rebuilt wheels sell for 125-175 so dont figure on getting too much for yours but on the plus side, someone will buy them from you. (answered by Leonard A on August 01, 2009)

Will a 2006 Mazda 3's 16" wheels fit on a 2006 Mazda 6 ?

I have a 2006 Mazda 6i, and I found a set of wheels locally for sale that belonged to a Mazda 3. Right now I have stock wheel covers, these are the stock alloys. Will they fit? I can't pass up 175 bucks for four 5 month old tires and wheels!!!

A: They should fit. All Mazda 6 submodels (Sports, 5-Door, Sports wagon and Mazdaspeed6) come standard with at least 16" wheels.

However, just to make sure call Mazda or your nearest Mazda dealer.
