Q:
A: Probably better to have a tow truck come and get it---towing a disabled car is tricky and can be dangerous. Basically, you buy a tow strap or chain long enough to give you 15-20 feet between the two vehicles, hook it up to the frame slots of each vehicle and setup a signal between the two drivers like waving an arm down to stop and up to go---the towed vehicle will have to do the braking for both vehicles when coming to a stop which if the towed vehicle does not run is very hard, if not impossible to do especially with power brakes not working and you must leave plenty of distance to stop as you can't stop quickly---- make sure to have the hazard flashers going on both vehicles---take it very slow and use side streets or roads if possible.
As i said, very tricky and may be best left to a tow truck or mobile mechanic to fix the vehicle. (answered by paul h on July 10, 2007)
