What we drive: 1969 Triumph TR6

Wisdom borne of experience: If you are contemplating the purchase of a British car and the vital parts of that car are in more than, say, two cardboard boxes, your purchase is suspect. Dad’s no mechanic, but he had gained a measure of technical confidence from a prior TR6 freshening. But restoring a basket-case TR6. Obviously there are exceptions: The D-type Jaguar comes to mind. Seller’s remorse set in after he let it go, so when a coworker spotted the straight, rust-free remains of a 1969 model in a North Carolina salvage yard, the threshold of good judgment disintegrated.

Q:

Mazda Miata Parts?

My wife has just purchased a 91 Miata. While the car's in really good shape, it needs a driver's side exterior mirror(the whole assembly-not a power mirror). Any suggestions on where to get one in the Tampa area or online? I've tried the local junk yards and part stores. None to be found and the Mazda dealer wants an arm and a leg for them.
Oh, by the way...it's an OEM mirror and that's what we want to replace it with.

A: Find a Miata forum and join. I'm amazed at the thing I find on the Subaru forums. Anything and everything (answered by I <3 my Suby. on February 24, 2008)

Q:

How hard is it to find parts for the Mazda Miata?

Also what is a lot of miles for a car? i.e. is 120,000 miles too much, or what?
Just like a relative idea, If to say I was in a wreck or something or a part went bad and I needed to replace it.
(asked by Susan on June 26, 2006)

A: With the Miata being the best selling 2 seat convertible ever sold, their following is still going strong and plenty of parts suppliers exist.

Also, the Miata is one of Mazda's most reliable vehicles so 120k on the odometer isn't too high for that car. Count on spending a few hundred for a new top as that is typically what goes first. Take a look on Miata.net for a ton of good info. (answered by maltbarley on June 26, 2006)

Q:

What should I do with a broke down Mazda Miata?

My boyfriend has a 1990 Mazda Miata with over 200,000 miles on it and the transmission locked up on him today while driving on the interstate. I told him I think he should try to sell it for parts but he's thinking of getting a new transmission for it. I don't think it'd be worth it considering he only payed $1000 for it.
What do you guys think?
(asked by BadKitty305 on July 16, 2007)

A: That thing is pretty much on it's last legs. It's not worth throwing any more money at it. Sell it for parts. (answered by Just Me on July 16, 2007)
