That heavy electric thing above would never rival an MX5, so may be pitch it as a rival to the Prius. The point of the MX5 when they brought it out in the late eighties was to reintroduce a classic open top sports car to the market in the spirit of the old Lotus Elan. The Infiniti G and a new sports car from the luxury brand will also use it. Insiders in Japan believe that bosses have yet to make a decision on what will power the new Nissan, but a tuned version of the Leaf&rsquo. The company has previously expressed an interest in an all-electric rear-wheel-drive sports car, with the ESFLOW concept, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March. This will not only underpin the new MX-5 rival, but also the 370Z replacement and the next GT-R. Classic rear drive, front engine layout and rifle bolt manual gearshift, but importantly a light weight body.
Q:
A: seems to be expensive (answered by Trantanpla on August 02, 2007)
A: they are great and AA people told me they never see them - as they rarely break down. I have one and they are great cars. (answered by rose_merrick on August 02, 2007)Q:
A: I would have to say the Miata. Granted it is not the most manly of cars out there, but it has a lot more going for it:
Miata-
-smoother, higher revving motor
-better transmission
-handles better, lighter and more responsive
-reliable
-better resale
-better top design
Solstice-
-looks nice
-clunky Chevy Colorado 5 sp manual
-lousy top design
-poor ergonomics
-ecotec motor nothing special
-heavy
-cheapo interior
I would be a lot more certain of the Mazda's ability to still be running well in 5yrs and to still be worth a good amount of money. They have been around for 15+ years and many of them are still on the road. The Solstice was a last hour, desperation car ordered put together from the GM parts bin by Bob Lutz. It was initially well reviewed and sold well, but has cooled off a lot as of late. (answered by XUSAAAgent on December 22, 2007)
Q:
A: Go to http://autos.yahoo.com/ .
Do some cost comparisons.
Then read the reviews.
If you want do to the Mazda site and Pontiac site and build your own.
When you get it all said and done, have looked at the cars and driven them - you most likely take the Miata (MX5).
Because it drives the best, is more economical to operate, and should prove to be more reliable.
We own Miata's and for us it is a till death do us part. Yes they are old (1990 models), but to date nothing better has come along (and I don't expect anything will). There is no reason to replace a paid for car that is so cheap to maintain. (answered by Old Man Dirt on June 30, 2008)
