Q:

where can i find a cheap (like in a salvage yard) 1969 mercury cougar?

My dad's been looking for a '69 mercury cougar to work on FOREVER and we can't find one. If you know of somewhere in like Missouri, Kansas, somewhere near there or northern Texas that would help. :)
(asked by hmm... on November 21, 2009)

A: Your chances of finding a '69 anything in a junk yard are between slim and none. Use Craig's list as that will allow you to search in certain locations. Ebay is another place, and you can do a whole US search or within 200 miles. The areas you mentioned are some of the best places to find cars. One of our club members here in Alabama took off searching for a car traveling the back roads of the mid west. He came home with a '37 Chevy he found in someones yard and knocked on the door to see if it was for sale. There are lots of cars around that people just let sit since they don't know the vehicle has value. If I lived in your area I would be traveling the back roads every weekend, you never know what's around the next corner or in the next field. Hope this helped, good luck in your search. Q:

Trying to find production information for 1969 Mercury Cougar?

I only have the VIN number, the door tag was missing, and I wish to get the info for the engine code, the transmission code etc. that was originally in the car at manufacture? Does anyone know where I might find this?
(asked by Phil N on August 26, 2008)

A: This site has the information you need:

A: Here is what you need a link to the Cougar Clubs. I love those first Cougars. All had V8s not 6 cylinders. A 1969 would have a 302 Windsor standard with optional big blocks up too 428, 4spds were optional but most were automatics. I hope the link helps. (answered by Paul M on August 26, 2008)
