Nissan GT-R To Go Hybrid?

In many circles, the Nissan GT-R is referred to as simply “Godzilla”, and with good reason. Cranking out 480 horsepower out of a twin-turbo V6, Nissan’s halo car is a track monster and a winner of many hearts and minds. But can it ever be green?

Maybe. Rumor has it that Nissan is considering a hybrid version of the GT-R that will provide better fuel economy without sacrificing performance. Say what?

This is just an unsubstantiated rumor for now… but hey, why not? Ferrari is doing it, and so is Rolls Royce. Why not a hybrid Godzilla? Supposedly, the plan is to drop the twin-turbo V6 engines horsepower by 40 ponies to 440, and then adding a 160 horsepower electric engine. This would bring total output to 600 horsepower, though the weight of an extra engine and battery will negate some of that horsepower.

Q:

How can I import a Nissan Skyline GTR R33 without taking the car apart?

What's the best way to import a Nissan Skyline GTR R33 without taking the car apart?
(asked by japansoccerkid27 on September 10, 9906)

A: DMV allows military personel to import almost any and all cars they want! Look at your state DMV website and verify, but the most easiest way is to have an army buddy import it for you! I have a JAPAN import with a legal military permit... and its great! (answered by TOEKNEE! on August 04, 2008)

A: If your in the US.

The Spec 2 R33 is legal to import due to crash data from Motorex

But mods differ state to state so your best finding out which mods are needed for the state you live in and then the mods have to be done to allow it to meet your local Regs then you need to find out whom can do the work and test the work to meet those regs.
Some states but def not all require the car to be LHD but as said not all, whilst some don't allow imports.
So your best finding out at a local gov transport office before you part with any money.

Else your best getting an already reg US one.

you could also try asking on there its a free forum above is a thread with US owners of Skylines.

So your best finding out al the info where you live first as any info given in another state may not match the exact info you needs.
Importing wise if you want to up that path and have a budget with the mods then mail me of my name on the side and i can give you places whom sell and import the skyline worldwide. (answered by tricky on September 10, 538)

Q:

What do I have to do to make a Nissan Skyline GTR R33 street legal?

I am wanting to buy a nissan skyline gtr r33, i have already found the site and i just need to know what i have to do to make it street legal so i can drive it around..what do i have to do?
(asked by japansoccerkid27 on July 02, 2008)

A: The rules say that due to test results from Motorex the R33 spec 2 is allowed for sale in the US again as long as it meets US regs. Now this varies state to state so you will have to research
this where you live, the main mod is emissions the Skyline does already come fitted with a cat on its stock system, but more work is needed, other mods vary again state to state so before you do mods which you may not need to as said find out where you live.

Some states although not all do require the car to be LHD but is not a common US mod which is required. Also some states do not allow imports so again before you spend your money.

As said worth out the cost of mods importing etc and weigh them against buying a US reg one but thats upto your budget.

A: Motorex was importing these cars a few years back and properly fitting them to be legal to drive in the US. I suggest you call them up. It won't be cheap. (answered by JY on July 02, 2008)
