SPOTTED: NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R (R33) - Pistonheads.com February 11, 2012

SPOTTED: NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R (R33) One day I will own a GT-R. It won't be an R34, because I don't much like the way they look, nor did it capture my imagination like my first drive in an R33. Of course I have no idea what this particular car is like to drive, but it looks the conkers,

Q:

What car converts most accurately to a Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R?

I've heard of conversion kits to convert Nissan's in the states to Skyline GT-R's. Which ones convert the most accurately? Especially to the r33 models.

A: 95-96 240sx...just do the front and rear end conversion....and then the motor swap....you now got yourself a r33 skyline gts not gtr....for its pretty hard to make it awd...

you could also get a 92 sentra ser and do the r32 front and back light conversion...then youll have a mini r32... (answered by john m on June 10, 2009)

A: the r33 models (answered by Robert S on June 10, 2009)

Q:

Is it legal to have a Nissan Skyline R33 or R34 in New Jersey?

I was just wondering if it is legal to have a Nissan skyline gtr R33 or R34 in The State of New Jersey (and yes i know they made A Nissan skyline R35 FOR THE U.S.A.
(asked by #1 NJ Devils Fan on September 06, 2009)

A: No, Not really. it depends though. After Motorex fell, only the 96-98 R33s were legal, unless, under Motorex's guidance, the cars had been "grandfathered" in beforehand. Buying a car that is "registered and titled" but is not listed with a "Motorex Bond Release" is an extremely bad idea at this point, as the Feds are cracking down on imported Skylines like crazy right now. Also, even if you did import an R33 and make the changes necessary to make it US Legal with regards to the crash test situation, there's still the problem of the OBD system. in the USA, law states that you have to have an OBDII system on cars 1996 or newer. the R33 Skyline does not have an OBDII it has an OBDI, so technically, until someone designs an OBDII setup for the R33, it will not be possible to import one completely legally, (until it is more than 25 years old) (answered by Leo on February 11, 4831)

A: yeah it is legal (answered by Justin on September 06, 2009)

* GT-R - 2.6 L RB26DETT DOHC twin-turbo I6, 305 PS (224 kW, 375 N m) (advertised as 280 PS) 4WD
* GT-R LM - 2.6 L RB26DETT DOHC twin-turbo I6, 305 PS (224 kW) FR
* NISMO 400R - 2.8 L RBX-GT2 DOHC twin-turbo I6, 400 PS (294 kW, 478 N m) 4WD
* 4Dr.GT-R Autech.version - 2.6 L RB26DETT DOHC twin-turbo I6, 305 PS (224 kW, 375 N m) (advertised as 280 PS) 4WD

Good thing about the skylines due to regs in Japan cars had to be below 276bhp so try figures never really came out as Nissan was letting the Skyline come out with extra power and of course one thing that makes then famous there tuneable engines which running on engine true power is around 500bhp on stock internals on certain models.And of course with extra mods 1000+bhp.
The GTS and the GTS-T and both great version of the skylines are offer a tuneable engine and RWD fun and the GTS-T with a single turbo setup which will meet the power of an GTR. (answered by tricky on March 28, 2008)
