What is the 0-60 time of a 1987 Oldsmobile 442, stock?

The 442 was in some years an option package on models like the Cutlass, and in some years was it's own model. 1987, I think, was a year in which it was an option package on the 1987 Cutlass Supreme. I'm definitely gonna need a reference to a source on this one. Thanks!
The high 13s, if I am not mistaken, could only be the V-8 or maybe even the v-6 Cutlass without the 442 option. I drove a 1987 442 for years and clocked 0-60 and other times -- I just cannot remember them exactly. I KNOW the 0-60 was under ten seconds, closer to 8 if I recall -- I just want to know if there is an official number. Long story why.

A: JSKingston,"FIRST" get some manuals(like Chilton's) which refer to year&model of the vehicle you speak of.And as for Cutlass: Supreme,ment the model with certain options which where above all others,AND 442 ment 400 cubic inches 4barrel carburator 2 wheel drive(positraction).Can't ever remember a 442 ever having a 400ci V6.Get the reference manuals. The V6 I believe you are thinking of was on the Buick Gran National. (answered by Robert B on April 30, 2007)

I have a 1987 442 Oldsmobile, I think my catalytic converter is clogged?

The other night, it was smoke coming from under my car. I checked under my car and my exhaust pipe by my catalytic converter had a orange color as if it were to burn or something. I was wondering if anyone know if I can just take it off, or just take it to the shop... Im somewhat experienced but I dont know if catalytic converters are usually welded.

A: the cat converter runs hot to start with. if it is clogged, the engine wont run.

chose the shop carefully, if you take it to one of the franchise places, they will tell you it is a federal law that you must have one. If you are handy, you can use a hack saw to remove the converter and put in a piece of flex pipe from NAPA. (answered by ►BobB◄ on February 02, 2009)

A: the cat will be welded on. and yes you can have an exhaust shop cut it off and weld in a piece of pipe for probably 40 bucks. the 87 model wont have a post cat o2 sensor, so cutting it off is fine. (answered by offroadjunkie on February 02, 2009)

TUne up 1987 Oldsmobile 442 ?

i have a 1987 442 that has been sitting in my garage for a couple years. I have taken it out to clean it and have started it before. It has a dead battery but i can jump start it.

My question is what should i do to the car tune up wise to make it run well. any suggestions would be great!

A: plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, air filter, fuel filter, empty out all the old gas and put in new and change the oil and filter, this should get it going. (answered by mister ss on August 16, 2008)
